The Rift Valley Aviation Guest Flight Companion (“the app”) is an offline map of Kenya that shows
you where you are during your flight. We designed it to be private by default. This policy explains
what the app does and does not do with your information.
In short: your location is used only on your device, to draw your position on the
map. It is never uploaded, stored on our servers, sold, or shared. The app contains no third-party
trackers and works fully offline.
Information the app uses
Location. With your permission, the app reads your device’s location
while you are using the app (“When In Use”) to show the “you are here” marker on the map.
The app does not use background location and does not request “Always” access.
No accounts, no personal details. The app has no sign-in. We do not ask for
your name, email, contacts, photos, or any other personal information.
How your location is handled
Your location is processed on your device, for display only.
It is not transmitted off your device, not stored by us, and not shared with
any third party.
The app makes no network connection to run — it works in Airplane Mode.
If you decline location access, the app still works; you simply won’t see your live position
(you can still explore the map and try the in-app demo flight).
Third parties & tracking
The app includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The
offline map is built with OpenStreetMap data and MapLibre, which are bundled in the app and require
no connection.
Children
The app is a general-audience travel companion. It collects no personal information from anyone,
including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app gains a feature that changes how information is handled (for example, an optional
share-a-souvenir feature), we will update this policy and the in-app disclosures before that feature
is released, and any such sharing will be something you choose to do.
